Chapter 17- My Grass-Fed Meal: A week's pay
Before I left the farm friday I pulled together the ingredients of what ended up being an amazing dinner. These ingredients consisted of 2 of the chicken we had slaughtered, a dozen eggs i helped gatrher and a dozen ears of sweet corn. The evenings meal included other things so I picked out local produce. I wanted this meal to be bar code- free.
Chapter 18- The Forest: Survivor Food
I decided to hunted myself and get my own food. The hunt reminded me of times when I would to hunt for clams and mushrooms with my family. It would be the last option on our food chain. I heard about Angelo Garro a hunter who hunts for his food, so i wanted him to teach me his skills. So that I could get health food like him. Soon enough would become my tutor.
Chapter 19 - Eating Animals; The Meat Eater's Dilema
It was a long time since the thought of eating meat had crossed my mind. In reality it was a dilema. After owning my own steer and killing cones in Joel Salatins processing shed i knew the things that these animals had went through. So i had a lot of thoughts about it . Peter Singer wrote a book called Animal Liberation in which he argued that animals shouldnt be treated the same as humans but they can suffer just as we do. So now i had decided to become a vegetarian.
Chapter 20 - hunting: A walk in the woods
Hunting was not what i ecpected it to be. It makes everything sharper and more vivid. It made me pay close attention like i've never have before. This is why i did not expect it. You notice alot more because you are so focused and even though im embaressed to say it i will, hunting is exciting.
